Searching for an instant cash loan online is one of the fastest-growing ways South Africans look for credit. Speed is convenient, but it is also where scammers and expensive offers hide.

How they usually work

  • You apply on a website or app and upload your ID, proof of income and bank statements.
  • The lender runs a credit and affordability check.
  • If approved, the money is paid into your bank account, sometimes the same day.

Before you apply

  • Confirm the lender’s NCR registration number with the NCR.
  • Never pay a fee to get the loan paid out. Legitimate fees are in the agreement and taken from the loan or your instalments.
  • Make sure the website is secure and avoid sharing your banking PIN or OTP with anyone.
  • Read the full agreement, including the total cost of credit, before accepting.

Borrow only what you can repay

Short-term loans cost more than longer ones. Work out your budget first so that the instalment fits comfortably after your essential expenses.

Apply only with lenders you have verified, and never pay to get paid.
